Anna Carter & Lesley Ennis
Anna Carter & Lesley Ennis have been collaborating together to make their unique artwork since 2008. They are both based on the North Devon coast, sourcing sea glass from their local beaches. There is a strong element of recycling and reinvention in their work, most evident in their quirky fish pictures, with the ocean providing the raw material to create images of a marine nature.
Their work is part of collections across the world, most notably in China, Australia and the UK. They are currently involved in a 5 year project to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s through visual arts, following an exhibition in Chelsea in 2015. One of their creations for this assignment has involved sourcing sea glass from Hawaii.
Their work has been showcased in a feature on the BBC’s “Spotlight” program as well as being exhibited in the “Celebrabis Vitae” skull art show in Shoreditch and was shortlisted for the Royal West of England annual exhibition in 2015.
They are currently creating a portrait piece using a vintage X-ray lightbox for inclusion in the “Icons” exhibition at the Royal Society of Arts in London in May 2016.
