Grace Wilmshurst is an artist living and working in Brighton. Grace grew up in the Wyle Valley in Wiltshire, surrounded by wildlife, influencing her painting today, with a fascinating yet sinister rural beauty.
Wild animals, dogs and birds are the inspiration for many of her oil paintings, and play a powerful role in her imagination. She is currently exploring the characteristic, muscular bodies of greyhounds and whippets which belie their sensitive, gentle nature.
I have tried to capture that energy in my work using oil paint, which is the perfect, versatile medium for these atmospheric snap shots.
