Martyn Perryman

Working from his studio in Surrey and his home in St Ives, Martyn Perryman uses oil on canvas and paper to create seascapes and landscapes focusing on the horizon. He takes his inspiration from regular coastal walks in all weathers. He will revisit the same location on many occasions, making sketches and colour studies to work from back in his studio.

“….my intention is to produce an image that will trigger a past visual experience. To create the calmness and clarity of mind that can be achieved when looking out to the horizon; free from the pressure and clutter of urban life.”

Martyn graduated in Fine Art and Design from Wimbledon College of Art. His first job was as a studio assistant to the sculptor John Ravera, president of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
