Fiona Roberts was born in the Lake District but now lives in London. The subject matter of her work is diverse and includes portraits, landscapes and seascapes.
Recently her paintings have been centred around her childhood experiences of growing up on a farm and the surrounding landscape of woodland, lakes and fells.
Working mainly in oils, acrylics and mixed media she often starts from sketches, photographs and, increasingly, from her own memories. She does not aim to produce a photo realistic representation of a place, but instead to portray the essence of the place, and the feelings provoked by the things she sees.
Fiona’s work has been selected for exhibitions in several Central London galleries, including the Menier Gallery in Southwark, The Gallery Cork Street as part of the Cork Street Open exhibition, the Mall Galleries as part of the Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition and the Cock ‘n’ Bull Gallery at the Tramshed in Shoreditch.
Her paintings were pre-selected for the Threadneedle Prize exhibition in both 2012 and 2013. Her work has also been shown in Richmond Upon Thames, Dorset, Bristol and Barcelona. She has work in private collections in the UK and overseas.
