Our featured artist of the month is Claire Wiltsher.
We are delighted to welcome Claire Wiltsher and her fantastic work to the gallery!
In less than three years painting full time, Claire has established herself as a highly successful artist. With just two exhibitions in 2009, that number rose to thirteen in 2010, and twenty-one in 2011.
In 2010, ‘Winter Snowstorm’ gained her the Rosemary & Co Award from the Society of Women Artists. In 2011, two of her pieces were selected by the House of Lords Works of Art Committee for acquisition by the House’s permanent collection. The paintings are hanging in the public areas and committee rooms of Millbank House. More recently, in 2013, two of Claire’s pieces were once again selected by the Cork Street Open, out of over 2000 submissions.
Claire has developed a distinctive artistic style, utilising a specific stylistic technique to create striking semi-abstract landscapes. Layers and texture are a key factor in her paintings, combining both paint and collage work, scratching through the surface to reveal the hidden work underneath. There are many intricacies to Claire’s work, such as fragmentation of colour and flicking paint onto the canvas.
Claire’s work is highly sought after and we are proud to have her beautiful paintings in the gallery.
